To Be a Frankenstein: Creating a Man, Becoming a Monster (synchronous online format)
This course will encourage you to explore identity, purpose, and faith by using Mary Shelley's text, Frankenstein, and similarly inspired texts in order to engage with themes that are integral to all people starting to find their own place in the world. The Bible tells us that we are all created for a purpose, and yet society often tells us that we are outcasts, rejects, and monsters-- how do we bridge that gap? When is the pursuit of knowledge a Godly endeavor, and when is it the work of the devil? How can we be comfortable in our skins, and also fit well and purposefully in society? We will examine these issues and others while we acclimate to college life and explore how WU can help us grow into the best versions of ourselves.
