Fiat Lux FYS Course Proposal

Fiat Lux FYS Course Proposal

Let There Be Light!

Fiat Lux is the motto of Waynesburg University - as well as the name of this course. Every time you see the University’s seal, with the image of a lamp, you see the words “Fiat Lux.” In Latin, they mean “Let there be Light.” (Genesis 1:3). Light is necessary for us to see, for warmth, and for all things to grow. We hope Fiat Lux will help our students to grow: we want them to grow their faith, mind, servant-leader hearts, and in grace.

Fiat Lux should serve as a welcome and introduction to life at Waynesburg University. We want to help students acclimate to the University, make meaningful connections, and start on a pathway toward a success.

The University mission is to “educate students to make connections between faith, learning, and serving so they might faithfully transform their communities and the world and lead a life of leadership and purpose for the glory of God.” Fiat Lux should mark the beginning of our students’ journey into a lifetime of faith, learning, and serving in keeping with that mission.
